iRig Keys I/O works as a USB MIDI Keyboard via its Device (Mini DIN) port with either “Mini DIN to USB” or “Mini DIN to Lightning” cable. So it can be connected to Mac/PC or iPhone/iPad.iRig Keys 2 works both as a USB MIDI (via micro USB port) and a standalone MIDI (2.5mm jacks with 2.5mm TRS male to MIDI female adapter) . So it can be connected to Mac/PC, iPhone/iPad or a standalone MIDI device like drum machines and synthesizers.
