ZoomAir IG-4165 Wireless Internet Gateway with Firewall

The ZoomAir Internet Gateway Model 4165 provides local area networking with "no-new-wires" in the home and small business. In offices with an existing LAN, the Internet Gateway provides the convenience of a wireless connection to a wired Ethernet network. In either the home or the office, the Model 4165 Internet Gateway provides shared broadband access to multiple PCs using a built-in IP router and switching hub for easy installation, operation and management. The power of the Model 4165 is accessed easily by the user through Zoom's unique SmartStart software (included). SmartStart enables sophisticated network setups by asking easily understood questions about the user's preferences.
 GENERAL FEATURES


All LAN users can share an ADSL modem, cable modem, ISDN terminal adapter, or analog modem for connection to the Internet through the use of NAT (Network Address Translation); LAN users share one valid external IP address, while retaining their local IP address
Physical layers supported for LAN connections include 10/100BaseT and 802.11b, WAN support is provided by a 10BaseT port and a serial connection
Provides firewall protection to the LAN against external attacks. Firewall configuration is password protected.
Firewalls include: NAT, Port Redirect, Packet Filtering, Stateful Packet Inspection, and MAC Address Filtering
Can be both a DHCP server or a DHCP client
Protocols supported include: TCP/IP, PPPoE, HTTP
Virtual private networking support with PPTP and IP Sec pass-through
Specified software applications can be supported through the firewall with factory configuration, or by user
configuration

Extends the range of 802.11 DSSS wireless networks
Links wireless clients to a wired Ethernet LAN
Industry standard IEEE 802.11b wireless networking
Utilizes advanced and secure DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) communication and includes Wired Ethernet Compatibility (WEP) RC4 64bit or 128 bit data encryption for additional wireless security
Data rates 11 and 5.5 Mbps send/receive with fallback to basic rates of 2 and 1 Mbps providing backward compatibility and improved networking integrity as needed
Built-in DHCP server for assignment of wireless and wired client IP addresses
Provides seamless roaming between connected access points
MANAGEMENT


LAN Administrator can limit the Internet access of individual workstations or groups of workstations
Configuration and management can be done through a PC directly attached to the Gateway, or remotely from authorized PCs on the LAN using any Web browser software. The interface is Operating System independent and easy to use.
Upgrades to the firmware can be done through the Web, through a Windows application, or through FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
