The Zoom/Modem V.92 USB Mini Model 3090 is a compact, low-cost external modem that conforms to the new, higher performance ITU V.92 and V.44 standards. It connects to a Windows Computer's Universal Serial Bus for the fastest and most convenient modem hookup yet! Using the included USB cable, just plug the Zoom/Modem V.92 USB Mini Model 3090 into your PC's USB port. You don't even have to shut down the computer. Configuration is automatic and without the potential conflicts of an RS-232 serial port or an internal modem. The Modem 3090 is powered through the USB port and does not require and external power supply.

The Zoom/Modem V.92 USB Mini outperforms V.90 modems. ITU V.92 is a new standard for dialup modems. It, and its companion compression standard V.44, make communications faster, easier and more enjoyable. The "automatic negotiation" or "handshake" at the beginning of a call can be over twice as fast with Zoom/Modem V.92 models than with V.90 modems. The new V.44 compression technology results in significantly faster Web browsing and download speeds, Upload speeds (before compression) with Zoom/Modem V.92 models can up to 40% faster, too. These dramatic improvements in performance are available to Zoom/Model V.92 users whose ISP (Internet Service Provider) has upgraded to the new standard.

Several features of the Zoom/FaxModem 56K USB Model 3090 make it an ideal travelling companion. Its very small size is prefect for use with a portable or laptop computer and its USB interface offers and advantage over traditional travelers' PCMCIA (PC Card) modems. PC Card modems require a special telephone line connecting cable. If that cable is misplaced or forgotten, quick replacement can be difficult. The Model 3090, however, uses a standard RJ-11 phone cord. Globetrotters can easily configure the Model 3090 for operation in 185 countries using the Zoom World Traveler software feature.

Unlike many other economy modems, the Zoom/Modem USB Mini's performance is enhanced by an on-board DSP (Digital Signal Processor). The on-board DSP performs the complex, real-time computing required for high-speed communications, and results in a more stable system and better multi-tasking performance.
Like all Zoom Dualmode modems, the Zoom/FaxModem 56K USB includes .80 capability for compatibility with H.324 standard point-to-point video telephony over regular phone lines. It also supports Group 3, Class 1 Fax.

Bundled software includes hardware drivers and utilities plus fax/data communications, Internet access, graphics editing and other useful programs.
